Minister: Gazprom to invest 1.3 tln rbl in Amur gas refinery

MOSCOW, Aug 4 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom will invest 1.344 trillion rubles in construction of the Amur gas refinery plant, the Kremlin said on Friday in minutes of a Thursday meeting quoting Energy Minister Alexander Novak as saying.

Gazprom launched construction of the plant in October 2015, and its projected refining capacity stands at 42 billion cubic meters per year making it one of the world’s largest gas refineries.

“Gazprom plans to launch the first line of the plant in 2021, and the second line in 2024. Investments amount to 1.344 trillion rubles,” Novak said at the meeting.

Novak also said that petrochemical holding Sibur plans to build a 500 billion ruble Amur gas chemical facility near the gas refinery for further processing of ethane and production of ethylene and polypropylene. Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said that Gazprom and Sibur plan to sign a contract to supply ethane from the refinery to the gas chemical facility by September.
